Developing Main Group systems for applications in small molecule binding, activation and catalysis

Research in the Aldridge group is focussed on the design and synthesis of Main Group compounds with unprecedented bonding motifs and/or electronic structure, and ground-breaking reactivity profiles. Much of our work focusses on elements from groups 13 and 14, with the aim of developing systems for the binding and activation of industrially relevant small molecules. Our aim is to develop compounds which alter the perception of the capabilities of Main Group compounds in stoichiometric and catalytic reactions.
