A new mechanism for hydrogen activation!

In work carried out in collaboration with Tobi Krämer and Keenan Byrne at Maynooth (now Trinity College Dublin) the mechanism of dihydrogen activation by potassium aluminyl compounds has been probed computationally and experimentally. A new cooperative (FLP-like) pathway is revealed involving deprotonation of H2 and hydride rebound - facilitated by the potassium counter-ions...

New publications in JACS and Chemical Science #2

Two more new papers from the group in JACS and Chemical Science to complete the year! JT's work in collaboration with the Goicoechea group at IU Bloomington on B=N/B=O metathesis is just out in Chemical Science, and Joe's work challenging models of transition metal bonding through the synthesis of a hexa-valent nickel complex is available to read in JACS...
